5 Ways To Choose Your Hotel

You are planning a holiday abroad for your family, and want everyone to have a good time. You surf the internet for hotel descriptions, but from the pictures that you see and what you read, all hotels project a perfect image of themselves. How can you tell which ones are better? You have never been there and know no one at your destination. At the same time, you don’t want a hotel room that will bust your budget. How do you choose?

Check Independent Hotel Ratings
Well, the first step you can take is to visit hotel search engines for guest ratings for hotels represented by the search engines. In addition to pre-negotiated rates with individual hotels, most agents ask for ratings and comments from previous guests. Reading their comments will give you a fair idea on what to expect from the hotels located in your destination. Be sure to read a few comments in order to get a fair overview. Certain incidences described may only be rare occurrences that may already have been corrected.

Hotel Chains and Facilities
Are they part of an international hotel chain? Most international chains have stringent standards that are adhered to as well as a standard theme across all chains. They may have similar facilities (health clubs, spas, business centers, etc) which are important to maintain the hotel’s high standards. Other things you can look out for include concierge, shuttle services to the city, airport transfers as well as good laundry services.

Location
Perhaps one of the most critical things when selecting a hotel is its location. Hotels that are near to shopping areas, train stations or the city center charge higher rates as compared to those located elsewhere. Analyze a map of the area before you book to determine the nearest shopping areas or access to trains which will give you much convenience in moving around. Also, check with the hotel if they have any large tour groups coming in at the same time. Hotels charge higher rates during high occupancy periods and do not have the flexibility of late check-outs. These are important aspects which, if overlooked, may affect your tour schedule as well as your impression of the hotel’s level of hospitality.

Rates and Discounts
Hotel rates are a huge factor when it comes to choosing a hotel. However, paying more does not necessarily mean that you will receive an equivalent level of service and standards. One of the ways to maximize on prices would be check if they are part of an alliance with flights or car rental companies, which offer discounts to customers of their allies. Sometimes, credit card companies offer their cardholders exclusive rates to special hotels which can be pretty attractive. Additionally, if it’s possible to use your frequent flyer points to redeem hotel discounts, this could help reduce hotel costs as well.

Boutique Hotels
Finally, apart from chain hotels, boutique hotels may are great alternatives for romantic getaways for couples or families seeking hotels of a more distinctive theme. Many boutique hotels have fewer rooms but offer more value added services such as spas within the bedroom, breakfasts in bed or even in-room massages. In the end, your choice of hotel really depends on what you want out of your holiday.

A Florence Hotel That Has It All

What do you look for in a hotel? A Florence hotel is sure to have it all. Some want a quiet retreat while others want to be close to the action. Making your own checklist of your likes and dislikes when it comes to turning in for the night will help you find a good Florence hotel. This will serve as your home base to day excursions or just a walking tour of the city.

Florence Accommodation Checklist

Take a minute to evaluate your preferences by answering a few questions:

1. Do you like an extremely quiet hotel?
2. Do you like to rent a car and drive to most attractions?
3. Would you like a home-like feeling to your sleeping arrangements?
4. Is it important for you to be able to cook small snacks or meals in your room?
5. Will you have children with you on your Florence vacation?

If you answered “yes” to most of these questions then you many like a Florence farmhouse or apartment arrangement. A farmhouse will be outside the city limits and apartments can be either in town or further away in the surrounding towns.

Now evaluate yourself on these questions:

1. Do you like to have room service at your hotel?
2. Would you prefer to use public transportation to get around?
3. Do you want to be within walking distance of tourist attractions?
4. Is it important to you to have services available 24 hours per day?
5. Do you like an active night life?

If you answered “yes” to most of these questions, then you are probably looking for a larger hotel, perhaps a well-known chain, in the heart of the city. Here you will have amenities such as room service, and you will be able to get around without having to rent a car.

The Sites of Florence

Within the general area of Florence there are hotels, bed & breakfast inns, farmhouses, villas and apartments. If you are planning to stay for an extended vacation or 2 weeks or more, it can be more affordable to stay in a villa or apartment where you can shop for your own groceries and not need to eat every meal out.

If you are looking for luxury and service, then full-service hotels or well-staffed villas are a good option. No matter what type of accommodations you choose, you will want to visit the Florence museums and travel the countryside of Tuscany.

Within the city limits of Florence there is world-class shopping. Gold and leather are especially good purchases, since the quality is extremely high, but prices are low. Also, the museums of Florence house masterpieces by the world’s greatest artists. In the country side you will find the wine of Chianti to be a memorable experience.

Everything is within a short drive outside the city or within walking distance in the city. So no matter what type of Florence hotel you end up staying in, you will not be far from the best tourist attractions. Also within a day’s drive or train ride are the attractions of Venice, Rome, and Bologna. Florence is central to it all.

Antwerp Hotel Guide

Antwerp is a city in Belgium, which is a center of commerce. It has a population of just under half a million people and is the capital of Antwerpen province, one of the three areas of Belgium. The city is situated on the right side of the Scheldt River.

The city is quite old, its name being mentioned as far back as the 4th century. It was the headquarters of Edward III, and the golden age of the city is closely related to the Age of Exploration. The city has had three economic booms in its history, the first being the result of the pepper industry and later silver.

When it comes to tourism, Antwerp is gravely underrated. This can be considered bad or good depending on the tastes of the traveler. If you want to travel off the beaten track to a city, which isn't as well known as Brussels, Antwerp is a great place for you.

Antwerp is one of the most important cities in Belgium when it comes to culture and economy. Along with New York and South Africa, Antwerp is one of the most important centers for the diamond industry. The city also has a large seaport and is an important area for oil refineries.

Very few cities perfectly mix the medieval with the modern, but Antwerp does this well. You will be amazed by the castles and Renaissance villas as you eat and drink at the local cafes. The city is well known for its museums and galleries which demonstrate artistically the different moods of the city.

Included in the art galleries are the works of the 15th century Flemish Master Jan Van Eyck, and 17th century Baroque artists such as Antoon Van Dyck. The city has also been given international recognition as a city known for its fashion design. Many students who have graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts have went on to become world famous designers.

Thos who enjoy wildlife will want to visit the Antwerp Zoo, which is world famous and is located in the center of the city. Next door to the Antwerp Zoo is the Central Sation, which visitors will also want to see. Like Brussels, Antwerp is fairly expensive, and visitors will want to bring ample sums of money when touring this city.

Being Safe at a Hotel

No matter what kind of hotel you stay at, there’s always risk of some sort of health hazard. The general rule of thumb is the higher the star rating; the safer the hotel is going to be. Since this isn’t true all the time, there are things you can do in order to protect your health and your family’s safety.

Bring Lysol – When you check into your room, try and look at anything you can grab such as the TV remote, the door handle, the bathroom sinks, etc. You’ll want to spray down as much as possible with the Lysol container. You can buy little Lysol containers at your local grocery store. I would always keep a small container in your travel bag at all times.

Bring flip flops – In a hotel, you’ll never know how clean those bathroom floors are. Thousands of people have probably walked on those floors before and you have no idea how good of a job the hotel has done. To avoid getting things like athletes foots, try and bring your flip flops with you so that you can wear them on the bathroom floor of the hotel.

Watch the bedding – If you’re staying at a cheaper hotel, pull back the bed mattress and search for little bed bugs. Bed bugs are very common among many hotels. If you see these bugs, immediately grab yourself, demand a refund, and find another hotel. If there are no bed bugs, make sure that your bedding looks clean enough to sleep on. If you see any type of stain, hole, etc, ask if the maid can change your bedding.

Bring your own dishes – If you’re going to stay at a resort that gives you a kitchen with dishes and plates, it may never hurt you to bring your own paper plates for food. If you want to use their plates and silverware, make sure that you wash it thoroughly with the soap they have provided you. Even if the dishes look clean, you’ll want to do this just to be safe.

Drinking water – Sometimes if you find yourself going out of the country like Mexico, etc, it may never hurt to bring a gallon of your own water or purchase it from a local franchised grocery store. By doing so, you’ll avoid any bacteria or disease that may be found in the water.

Check reviews – Before you even book your hotel, check and look at ratings on websites such as TripAdvisor.com to see what other travelers think of the hotel. If it gets a poor rating, you may want to consider looking at another hotel. If it gets great reviews, this is probably a hotel you’ll want to consider. You can usually get a good idea on what the other travelers have to say.

Just by following these tips mentioned above will increase your odds of living a better lifestyle at a hotel. While most of the hotels you stay are will be pretty clean, it never hurts to be safe.

Bellagio Hotel

Home of the famed Cirque du Soleil show O, the Bellagio Hotel has this and much more to offer the Las Vegas guest. Opened in 1998, this luxury hotel is patterned after a Roman extravaganza, but offers everything for the modern traveler.

Sited on the shores of a 10-acre man-made lake, the hotel houses 20 restaurants and cafes, a 65,000 square foot spa and salon and a dozen other attractions.

The famed Bellagio Fountains are just outside. A thousand choreographed sprays blossom into the air in a water ballet that has to be seen and heard to be appreciated. The jets are timed to classical music and Las Vegas visitors will often stand in front of them day or night for an hour and watch the show.

The lobby alone is worth a visit. The ceiling displays 2,000 hand-blown glass flowers each hand-crafted to perfection. The Fiori di Como are multi-colored works of art that form only one astounding part of this city within a city.

Just off to the side are other fascinating things to see, such as the Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Within its walls are exotic plants from all over the world. Those who have enjoyed the botanical gardens of London or New York won't be disappointed.

The Fine Arts gallery is an option, even for those not staying at the hotel. With dozens of works by Picasso, Monet, van Gogh and other masters, it's small but impressive. Easily the equal of many European art museums, art lovers will find many works to view and enjoy. An audio tour is available.

Unlike some of the hotels, the Bellagio is restricted to those over 18 unless they are guests of the hotel. One reason is the centrality of the large casino within the property. Visitors will pass through it on their way to almost any of the other attractions. Under these orange canopies you can find just about anything in the way of gambling, from $1 slot machines all the way up to $5,000 per hand poker tables.

Not inexpensive by Las Vegas standards, the Bellagio rooms can easily cost $250 a night, though discounts are a possibility during off-days or weeks. But you'll definitely get your money's worth. Whether it's the luxurious Italian provincial-decorated rooms, or the high-end spa, you'll find elegance and pampering are routine here. The spa architecture has an unusual feature to enhance the visitor's experience: walls made of water. The music and general ambiance will melt your stress away.

Even with over 3,400 rooms they offer a high staff-to-guest ratio and your every whim will be catered to quickly. Come visit the Bellagio and find out for yourself.

Best Hotel in America

The Windsor Arms elegance and plush surroundings, combined with an exceptional level of service, makes it the destination hotel in Toronto.

One of the best hotels in America is The Windsor Arms Hotel located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It embodies the elegance of a bygone era: a grand hotel, a Toronto landmark since 1927, recently re-opened as a dazzling, contemporary boutique hotel favored by celebrities visiting the city.

Located in the heart of Toronto's trendy Yorkville area, the Windsor Arms for sure blends perfectly with its surroundings but nestling in a sanctuary of tranquility. The lively and dynamic neighborhood is brimming with designer boutiques, sophisticated and trendy restaurants, art galleries and museums. But the Windsor Arms indeed is privately secluded thirty yards from the Golden Strip, shrouded in genteel quiet.

At the back of this beautiful century-old facade are the 28 newly-appointed luxury suites with 24-hour butler services. The suites are filled with mahogany or birch furnishings, lush wall coverings and splendid Frette linens and private in-room bar, and equipped with the latest, state-of-the-art technology. Every suite has a unique 'butler's cupboard': a place for laundry, shoes to be shined or room service trays to be set, so the butler may retrieve or return them without ever disturbing the guests. The hotel boasts a staff to guest ratio of 1:6, the highest in Canada. The Courtyard Café of the hotel is the host for its exceptional dining. The extraordinary cuisine is served in a breathtaking room with 50-foot ceilings, skylights, and limestone walls. Enjoy traditional afternoon tea in the Tea Room, which was transformed to become Toronto's only champagne and caviar bar in the evenings. Club 22 features casual dining, live entertainment and dancing. The health spa, featuring Darphin, offers fully serviced individual treatment rooms, beauty salon, swimming pool and exercise facilities.

The hotel offers 9 deluxe suites, and all suites have King size beds except for the two standard rooms. The 2 Windsor Suites and 4 Corner Suites have been recently renovated. Highlights of the Windsor Suite include - 1500 sq.ft. in space, 2 pull-out double bed couches, a living room, a den, 6-person dining table, fireplaces, two bathrooms - one full and one three-piece that includes a shower stall.

The Windsor Arms Hotel can accommodate up to 250 people for sit-down functions. Fax machine and photocopy is available through the front desk. The Courtyard Cafe is open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner (except Sunday & Monday nights) and late night dining Tuesday - Saturday. Alex Austriaco is the Executive Chef; the Chef's table in the kitchen also provides a unique dining experience.

Kid policies vary by hotels. Some of the hotels are able to provide a rollaway bed or crib, though there may be an extra fee. Discreetly tucked away on the 4th and 5th floors is the hotel's full-service luxurious Darphin Spa, conceived as one of its kind in North America. The spa, which offers a full range of world-class aesthetic services, caters to both privileged ladies and gentlemen. Features include a magnificent pool with grand fireplace, sauna, steam room, gym, hair salon and individual treatment rooms. Men and women, even young adults are welcome at the spa to try its uniquely-designed services, including sports manicures and pedicures, waxing and facials.

In September 2006, the Robb Report on the world’s most luxurious hotels chose the Windsor Arms Hotel.

With its trendy and contemporary elegance, the Windsor Arms Hotel is a perfect blend of Old World charm and modern decadence. Voted as the leading hotel in Toronto by Conde Nast Traveler (2007), the Windsor Arms undoubtedly is the preferred choice of a faithful clientele who gush about the 24-hour butler service.

Choosing A Hotel

When it comes to choosing a hotel there is certainly a lot to consider. From where you are going to stay, to how much you can afford to spend; careful planning and research are both vital elements.

Setting a Budget

When you are choosing a hotel, it is important that you set a budget before you start your search. Through setting a budget initially you can easily write off options that are too expensive before you become attached. When setting a budget it is also important that you take account of other related expenses. For example, some hotels will provide bed, breakfast and evening meals, whilst others will not account for this in their cost.

Choosing a Location

When opting for which hotel is right for you, it is important that you consider the location of the hotel. If you are going on vacation to visit particular attractions, then it would certainly be a good idea to consider the hotels proximity to these attractions. A simple way to do this is to go online and use a service where by you can enter the zip code of the hotel and the zip code of local attractions. The online service will then tell you the distance between the two. Another important reason to consider location is when you prefer to stay in a place that is quiet, or alternatively when you would rather stay in a place that is vibrant and full of life. Through failing to take this into consideration, it is possible you will not enjoy your holiday as much as you would have liked.

Doing Research

Before you stay at a hotel it is best that you research it before you place a booking. One good way to do research is online. It is often possible to find information from other people that have stayed at the hotel, which can be a great way to get a third party perspective. Another way to get information about a hotel is to phone the hotel directly and ask them a few questions. This will often allow you to get to grips with how friendly there staff are, as well as verifying how easy the hotel is to contact. Although their opinion may be somewhat tainted, a travel agent can also act as a great resource for giving you relevant information on a hotel.

Keeping Everyone Happy

When it comes to going away to a hotel, it is usually the case that more than one person will be traveling with your party. Therefore it is important to ensure that everyone is happy with the choice that you make. Although everyone can’t get what they want all of the time, it is possible that a compromise can be reached. If you have to you may choose to have a vote in order to come to a decision, but it is much better if everyone can agree among themselves; that way nobody will be too disappointed with the choice that is made.

Do You Suffer From Hotel Fatigue?

You probably know the feeling – stuck in a hotel bedroom that looks exactly like the room you stayed in last week, and the week before that. The chair’s hard and uncomfortable so you end up sprawled on the bed. After a hectic day the thought of a table for one in a crowded restaurant is so unappealing that you opt for room service and blow a small fortune on a glorified sandwich.

If this seems all too familiar then next time you travel on business why not try a serviced apartment?

Serviced apartments are fast becoming the preferred accommodation choice for many business travellers. The concept of serviced apartments has developed in the UK in recent years following the lead of countries such as Australia, New Zealand and the United States. These apartments, often confused with suites, are generally found in prime city centre locations.

Guests enjoy the space and freedom serviced apartments offer. Typically, in addition to your bedroom you will have your own private lounge, fully-fitted kitchen and of course bathroom. There’s space to relax on your own, entertain colleagues or even get some work done.

There are advantages of staying in a serviced apartment too when it comes to dining – fully-fitted kitchens offer an alternative to eating alone in restaurants and are ideal where a guest has special dietary needs. There’s more flexibility too – as breakfast can be enjoyed in the comfort of your own private lounge with no need to rush to meet the deadline for breakfast!

Serviced apartments are also ideal as a venue for small meetings and conferences and can offer executives and conference organisers an alternative for small meetings or debriefing sessions – look out for high speed Internet access which is available in the best serviced apartments now.

Serviced apartments generally offer the same flexibility in booking terms as a hotel – you can book direct via telephone or email and can book online. There is usually no minimum stay period and they are cost-effective too when compared to hotel rates, particularly when you take into account the possible savings on expensive extras, such as roomservice, bar and laundry bills. Sharing a two-bedroom apartment with colleagues is the most cost-effective option of all. Ensuite bathrooms ensure no loss of privacy but the total price per apartment will be substantially less than two or even three standard hotel rooms. Maid service is included as you would expect in a hotel and the best serviced apartments have on-site reception facilities to provide you with any additional assistance you may require.

The serviced apartment market has emerged as a most cost-effective alternative to hotel accommodation and, at times the only option to consider. High in comfort, low in cost with complete consistency. Three C’s that provide a good benchmark for anyone needing to stay, for whatever length of time, away from home.

4 Exercises You Can Do in a Hotel Room

It’s been a fairly recent development in human history that many of us sit at desks all day and aren’t up performing physical activity. The human body wasn’t designed to just sit around, which is partially why obesity and other health concerns related to physical activity have become such a problem. The good news is that you can use sitting at a desk to your advantage in a hotel room. Most rooms at least have a chair and a desk. Two things that can keep you in the fitness mode while away from home. Here are 4 great exercises you can do to stay active while on the road.

Quick Cardio
In order to keep your heart healthy, you have to elevate your heart rate often. While it’s best to get it up and keep it up for at least 20 to 30 minutes, every little bit counts. If you have 5 minutes free during the day, that’s enough to get the blood pumping. Here’s a great way to get your blood moving as you sit in a chair. First, pump your arms up and down above your head for 30 seconds. Next, then tap your feet rapidly back and forth like you’re trying to run in place. Now alternate these back and forth for about 5 minutes.

Arm Stretches
Stretching you arms and wrists is a great idea if you’re at the desk working. It can help relieve stress from the repeated actions. Here are some wrist and arm stretches that can be done quickly and easily. First extend you arm in front of you with your wrist bent back so your palm is facing out. Use the other arm to pull back your hand; you should be able to feel your whole arm stretching out. After repeating this exercise with both arms, press your palms firmly together in front of you. Be sure to keep your elbows bent and lifted. Bend your wrists back and forth, pushing with your hands.

Leg Lifts
Constantly staying in the same position all day, whether sitting or standing can be damaging to your legs. This simple exercise will help increase leg circulation and improve the health of your legs. While sitting in your chair, simply extend on leg until it is straight. Hold, the return it back to the floor. Continue this exercise for a few minutes, alternating legs. Lift one leg a few inches off the floor while keeping your knees bent. Again, you should hold and release, then repeat for a few minutes with both legs.

Back Stretches
Sitting or standing on your legs all day can not only damage your legs, it can be murder on your back. Think of shopping and caring all those bags and souvenirs. The best way to relieve back pain doesn’t take extra time out of your day, it just requires a bit of concentration. Just make sure you use proper posture throughout the day. Sitting straight up in your chair all day without slouching can be a challenge and often resorts to pain. If you need temporary relief of back pain, simply arch your back by pulling your stomach forward and bending your shoulders back. Another great way to stretch your back is to keep your lower body facing forward in your chair while turning around with your upper body.

While these exercises aren’t going to give you a killer body, they will help you feel better and make you healthier. Then that extra margarita you have won’t make you feel so guilty.

Finding The Best Hotel Deals

When it comes to hotels, things boil down to a tradeoff between low cost and convenient location. In many cases, especially when traveling to major cities and popular attractions, the closer the hotel to the city or attraction the more you can expect to pay. The best way to save money, particularly in large cities, is often to stay in the suburbs.

Of course, this means that you will spend more time getting to the places you want to visit, and this will mean spending additional money on gasoline, etc. It is important to compute all these costs to make sure that you will really be spending less on a less convenient hotel room.

There are of course a number of ways to save money on hotels and motels without compromising quality. For one thing, a membership in AAA or a similar auto club also entitles you to discounts on hotel rooms, as does military service and senior citizen status. When inquiring about a hotel room, always inquire about discounts that may be available.

In addition, shopping early for a hotel room can often yield the best deals. That is because hotels often reserve a block of low cost rooms, and when they are gone they are gone. Thus, the last room at a hotel may be much more costly than the first. Getting the best hotel room deal is often a matter of timing.

Of course getting a great deal on a hotel will mean nothing if the place is a dump. Shopping for a budget hotel should not mean settling for a hotel that is dirty, poorly run or in an unsafe location.

Fortunately, finding a good budget hotel has been made much easier with the help of the internet. What used to take weeks or even months to research can now be done in a matter of hours or even minutes. Many hotels, even budget properties, feature pictures of the property and the surrounding area, so be sure to research the property you are considering if you have never stayed there before.

It is important to research the area in which the hotel is located as well. Be sure to check out things like restaurants and attractions within walking distance of the hotel. Doing research on the area will help ensure you do not end up staying in a dangerous neighborhood just to save a couple of bucks.

The internet also provides a number of review sites where those who have stayed in various hotels share their experiences and their impressions of the hotel properties. These review sites can be very useful for travelers, particularly those traveling to a new location for the first time.

In addition, the internet hosts a number of comparison web sites where travelers can easily find and compare hotel properties for their individual dates of stay and destinations. These web sites offer a number of ways to search, including distance from a particular tourist attraction, price, star level and more. The only caveat to consider when using such a web site is its independence. Some comparison web sites feature only properties that pay an advertising fee, so using a comparison site does not necessarily guarantee the best price. It is best to use a number of such web sites to get a true picture of the lowest prices available.

Free Hotel Deals - How To Get Free Hotel Nights

Free Hotel Deals are hard to find and even when you find them most of the times they will come involved with hidden costs or obligations to attend high-pressure sales presentations. I will explain how to avoid that to happen and also recommend a reliable place where to get your free hotel deals.

First of all, you need to understand that finding free hotel deals is not something as easy as it may seem. Sure in many places you will find the so much loved "free" label. This word has become absolutely empty of meaning nowadays, because for some reason now we get things for free when we pay for them. That should be normal, shouldn't it? You pay for it, and you get if free of... Extra charges? Why should they charge you more? You have already payed for it!

What I mean in the end is that wherever we go the first word we find is always free and later we go discovering the costs. If we keep in mind that the total cost is the only thing that matters, then we will do a great job with it. Total cost does not mean only for the stay at the hotel, it means total cost that involves the fact of taking this offer. Many offers will tell you that you must get your breakfast and dinner at the hotel, or will put some obligations that will cause extra costs. You need to evaluate all them and take away a percentage of savings. If that percentage is lower than a 60%, normally you are not in front of a good free hotel deals company. If it is higher around 70% or higher, I certainly would go for it. You can even find some offers that reach an 80% discount.

Legislation, at least in the US, says that even if hotel rooms are given away for free for marketing purposes, the government taxes must be payed anyway. If this is not mentioned in the offer, you can get worried, because you will have to pay for them for sure. It will vary on the hotel, but normally they are around a 10%. When looking for free hotel deals you must remember also that a redemption fee will always need to be payed. That is the only way that travel certificate companies can offer their products. If redemption fees do not exist, probably this company will put you into one of this high-pressure sales presentations and they expect to get a commission from this.

As always, to get those free hotel deals, you will need to purchase a product or have a minimum expense in a determined place. Companies can purchase hotel certificates for as little as $0.40 when bought in bulk, so many times you will not need to spend a lot in order to get a good prize. Compare the amount you spend with what you get in return and also with the value that the product you buy has. Don't buy a product simply to get the trip!

If you are interested in gaining insight in travel industry secrets, there is a good place where 6 different e-books are offered. They cover issues such as airline transportation, travel agencies, consolidators, accommodation discounts and many strategies and tricks in order to travel always cheaper. With the purchase of 1 of those e-books, you get free hotel deals. Basically a package of 2 nights in more than 30 possible destinations in the US is available. Summing up all the costs for hotel taxes, redemption fees and shipping cost, you will be paying $24 per person (the certificate is per hotel room, and I consider that normally it will be occupied by 2 paying members). Providing that the retail value of the stay is more than $100/person, you are saving a 76%.

Hotel Guide In China

When it comes to hotels within China, you just have to be a little careful.

• Hotel Travel Guide China - International Brand hotels, 4 and 5 Star

Mostly these types of 4 and 5 star hotels will be ok, generally they will be run by a western boss and have western heads of all the departments.

Training, etc, of the staff, consistency of the level service from an international brand hotel is important, so most will have enough English speakers around to make your stay welcome and hassle free.

The breakfast will be catered for both Chinese and Western appetites, with the hotel occupancy rate around 50 – 50 Chinese to Westerner.

• Hotel Travel Guide China – Chinese hotels, 4 and 5 stars within the Major Cities

Within the major cities, most will be as the International brands and the level of service just as good.

Within the restaurants and shops, the English should be at a level that you would get most things without too much bother.

If the clientele is Westerner and Chinese, the breakfast will be all the usual food that you will recognize.

• Hotel Travel Guide China – Chinese hotels, 4 and 5 star, Rural location

I lot of Chinese travel, for these hotels this is their major business, not westerners, the westerners are classed as an extra, which has come along over the last few years.

Some have not learnt to deal with this extra business yet.

These more out of the way Chinese 4 and 5 Star hotels are a little different; comparatively the fixtures and fitting will be the same standard as any 4 or 5 Star hotel, however sometimes the same care and attention in the maintenance and service to the customer will be different to what you will be used too.

Not necessarily worst or bad, just different.

Western and Chinese expectations in all areas of the China travel business are different, this is the why I set up Travel-the-Real-China .com.

The level of English generally will not be as good, so just take your time, they will find someone, or you will work, just keep your cool.

I have stayed at some great Chinese 4 and 5 star hotels, and been very happy, so do not be put off.

All I have visited have been clean tidy and for an overall statement: a pleasant stay was had by all.

The breakfast will be a Chinese breakfast and if it is a regular stop for Western travelers, some western food will be served.

If it is an out of the way place, you may not get the type of breakfast you expect, the Chinese eat different things for breakfast, so to get a simple cup of tea or coffee and some toast just will not happen.

There will be hot water, if you have to have your tea or coffee, bring your own.

The breakfast will have lots of food, just not, what you will be expecting.

• Hotel Travel Guide China – Chinese hotels, 3 star

These 3 star Chinese hotels usually gets very high traffic and occupancy… mostly Chinese, and now the westerners, especially with the major cities

For these hotels, maintenance is not high on there lists, so you may find a few things that will not work or have fallen of the wall.

If it is dangerous, most of the time, something will be done, otherwise no one will care.

Within the major cities most will be clean and tidy and offer some sort of western food for breakfast. Out in the remoter areas… not really.

The breakfast will have lots of food, just not, what you will be expecting.

Take some tea and coffee if you really need this there will always be hot water.

The level of English within the major cities will be, just enough for you to check in, and out in the remoter areas, checking in can take come time.

There is a high number of these hotels and it can be a great way to see the country, in Tibet the 3 star hotels are a little pricy, however within China most are good value and will be clean with showers in all the rooms.

You just need to be a where; its good value, clean and some small things maybe a little frustrating with it, however that’s China.

Go with the flow, its part of the adventure of China.

• Hotel Travel Guide China – Shanghai hotels - Special rates and location

I know of a few small and very good value inner city hotels within Shanghai.

These are Chinese hotels and will not be on anyone’s list to book, as they are new and classed as Chinese business hotels.

Please contact to author if you would like to know more details.

I hope this Hotel Travel Guide China gives you a good overview if you would like more info please let me know.

Hotel Loans

Buying an existing hotel is a great business venture – so is building one. People are always in need of a place to stay that is comfortable and has a pleasant atmosphere and other features nearby. Getting a hotel loan is an important step, even necessary in order to get your new business going. Here is what you need to know about hotel loans to get you started.

The first thing you need to know about hotel loans is that they are not easy to obtain. While this may sound a little negative, you do need to know that most lenders will not lend for the purchase of a hotel unless it meets some rather strict qualifications.

The Qualifications

Most lenders, whether direct or brokers, will require that the hotel come under the "flag" or name of a major hotel chain. Independent hotels, and small chains are just about out of luck these days. Even with the brand name, however, there are still a couple of other major hurdles that may stand in the way.

The hotel to be purchased also needs to be in a good state of repair. Beyond its overall condition, though, it also has to be attractive in appearance. This assures that its current rate of business can continue - or even possibly increase – without needing a separate loan for renovations. As you can see, many lenders may not provide a commercial loan for new hotels.

A third qualification is that the hotel needs to show that it has had a good profit over the past couple of years. So, the books will need to be closely examined to make sure the hotel has been doing well – with the hopes that it can continue to do so. Apart from a past history of success, you will find it difficult to get this kind of commercial loan - at least at a good interest rate. There will probably be a minimum requirement of a profitability of 1:1.1 or more, DSCR values.

Personal Qualifications

The building itself, and the business, is not all that will be considered when you go for a hotel loan. The buyer's own personal experience in the hotel business will also most likely be questioned. A number of successful years experience, as a hotel manager may be needed, too. Some lenders will not lend to someone unless they are going to be both the owner and the manager. Others may require that a proven manager will be brought in to manage the hotel.

Loan Terms

The terms for hotel loans, like any other kind of loan, varies. Being that it is a commercial loan, the interest rate is usually a little higher than a residential loan. In fact, it is possible that a hotel loan will have a slightly higher interest rate than even other types of commercial loans. Also, do not expect a 100% loan in most cases, although some hotel loans will provide that much. Typically, you will find that most range between 70 to 80%, or so.

The payment terms will provide an average range from 20 to 25 years in most cases, but it may amortize in more than that – meaning you need to make a balloon payment at the end. You can find your hotel loan at most commercial lenders’ Web sites. Values start out somewhere around $250,000 and go upwards – enough to cover most existing hotels or build new ones.

Hotel Uniforms

The idea behind a uniform is to identify a person as being part of an institution be it a school, factory or a hotel. Hotel uniforms are a must for any kind of hotel. The hotel staff must be readily identifiable via their work wear. A hotel uniform does not just provide an identity but it makes the hotel more professional in its chosen line of business.

The hotel staff ranges from the valet at the car park to the chef in the kitchen. All the staff can have hotel uniforms that readily identify them as members of the hotel staff and give them a unique appearance in keeping with their roles. The professional chef would require anything from a chef hat to server tunics or waist aprons whereas the bell man would require an entirely different ensemble. Whether it is in the casino or in the spa, the hotel uniform must be appropriate and in keeping with the standards that the hotel wants to maintain.

Hotel uniforms maybe unisex or specially designed for the male and female staff. Smart yet simple lines give the hotel uniform a professional and attractive appearance. The front desk is the first place a potential guest would go to when entering a hotel. As such the staff here must look competent to the guest. First impressions are lasting ones and as such the design and look of the hotel uniform should make a favorable impression on the customer.

Depending on the type of hotel and the nature of work that the staff is involved in, uniforms could be simply utilitarian or highly attractive or a combination of both. The staff that come in direct contact with the customer must have uniforms that are professional and in keeping with the general ambience of the hotel. The valet, front desk, bell boy, security guard and the restaurant staff should have the best in apparel as compared to the housekeeping and kitchen staff. The color of the uniform must not be too loud but attractive and elegant. An ideal hotel uniform would be one that is elegant and at the same time discreet in appearance.

Online retailers provide hotel uniforms for any role, be it the front desk or the housekeeping staff. Available online are hotel clothes that are attractive and designed for comfort and style. You can have your pick of any design for the chef and the bartender! If you want something more unique you can order specific designs and monograms for your staff clothing. The products available offer a complete range of waist coats, jackets and aprons for the banquet table are designed for elegance.

You can combine fashion with professionalism. Uniforms are made from material that gives you the best in appearances and is comfortable and easy to maintain. You can find uniforms designed especially for your needs. You can have any image or logo either embroidered or silk screened onto your apparel and can have the completed uniforms drop shipped directly delivered to you.

Hotel, Where Does The Name Come From?

Hotel, an organization which makes paid accommodation available, generally on a temporary basis. Hotels habitually provide numerous guest services, for example, a restaurant, a childcare or a swimming pool. A number of hotels contain meeting rooms and conference facilities and encourage people to arrange get-togethers and conventions at their own place. No rigid rule of differentiating hotels from other motels is there, though, a Motel clearly suggests that it is intended for motorists. It simply means that it is nothing but a hotel but with first-class access to the highway network. Characteristically, motel means a hotel, made suitable for inhabitants who, for no matter what private reason, wish not to be unable to have rapid right to use from the outer world to the rooms of the hotel without going by the receptionist’s scrutiny or associate guests.

The word also refers to a bar or a pub in Australia. Even in the United Kingdom, many bars, having hotel in their names, do not provide lodging or foodstuff. In India, hotel refers to restaurant as the better restaurants were located near to good hotels. The word Hotel originated from a French word, hộtel. It refers to a French edition of a townhouse but not a building where accommodation is offered. Accommodating people in dedicated buildings has immense antiquity and people of various customs started practicing it. Hoshi Ryokan, a Japanese hotel, which was established in the year 717, is the oldest hotel of the world. Basic lodging of a room with no more than one bed, one cupboard, one small table and one washstand was substituted by modern rooms having en-suite bathrooms, telephones, a television, an alarm clock, broadband connection of internet etc. Drink and food are delivered by a mini bar. The quality and cost of hotels are normally indicative of the variety of services accessible. How To Get A Hotel Discount

You need to ASK if you want a discount. Here are ways to do it:

* Search the internet, look for great deals. There are various types of hotels that offer great discounts on the web for online customers. Be sure to check these out.

* Plan your trip during the off season months. These are the times when big discounts are given.

* Call the hotel of your choice. Ask them about offers and discounts that they can give. List all promotions.

* Certain hotels can give discounts to credit card holders of certain card establishments. Ask for the manager and ask him about it. The manager is the best person to ask, since if you can make negotiations, he has the authority to make negotiations with you.

* Ask if they give discounts to students or senior citizens.

* Simply ask through the phone how can you qualify for a discount. If at certain day of the week or at certain times of the year they give discounts, ask them about it and ask how much or how less can they give, then ask if you could get still a higher discount. Usually at off peak seasons, hotels will be willing to give in, just to fill the empty rooms.

* Ask for certain packages. Hotels usually offer rooms with free breakfast.

* Do name drop. If you know of someone who frequently stays them, mention his name. It can help. Tell them your friend referred you to them and ask for a discount. Don't ever give up if they say no. A statement like "is that the best you can do?" can encourage a big discount.

* Often, people in the military get good hotel rates. Usually, discounts are offered to government employees.

* At off peak seasons, you could definitely ask for special rates. Then if they don't budge after you have offered a discount, ask some extras, like breakfast.

* When negotiating, it is very important to write down all agreed discussions. Write too, the names of the persons that you have been talking to, the time as well as the day and date. Ask for a number that you can call before checking in to the hotel for confirmation.

* Upon arrival to the hotel, look around and ask for negotiations once more. For instance if you feel that the hotel is not fully booked, ask for a room with a better view than the one you are in, if you don't agree with what you see.

Enjoy your stay!
